As a student in Laurier’s Integrated Musical Arts program, Shannon was known for deep artistry, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit that elevated group projects and conversations. Shannon was also committed to justice in music and in life, volunteering with Laurier’s Food Distro initiative supporting students experiencing food insecurity.
Shannon carried that same energy into the broader Kitchener Waterloo music scene as a sound technician, contributing to many performance venues throughout the region. Shannon also founded the indie pop trio HouseCat, serving as the creative heart of the project and a cherished collaborator.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Shannon’s family and friends, bandmates, and the many Laurier students, faculty, staff, and alumni who are feeling this devastating loss. Shannon’s presence in classrooms, studios, rehearsal spaces, and on stage will be remembered with deep affection.
Shannon’s family has created a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses, with plans to donate any remaining funds to CAMH in Shannon’s honour.
