Oct. 11 to Dec. 9, 2016
After recovering from a serious car accident while living in Kelowna, BC, during which I encountered a near death/out-of-body experience, I chose to go back to university and study art for five years.
Graduating from UBC Okanagan campus in 2000, I continued to travel and paint in many beautiful environments, under adverse conditions.
Over the last 16 years, I have backpacked through many amazing countries in South East Asia, painting and creating art as I travelled.
During the last five years I have continued to paint in Havana, Cuba, making two trips each year.
This exhibition includes a variety of paintings created in various locations and studios throughout Havana between 2012 and 2016.
Havana, Cuba is an amazing place. The paintings are bold: rich in colour, high in energy – capturing the moment, the essence of the person, in their distinct environment. The portraits make a rich statement about the resilience and beauty of the Cuban People.
