Medieval and Medievalism Studies (BA in Combination)

Investigate the Middle Ages across the globe, exploring the development of modern culture and society and its lasting global impact. Expand this focus to understand how our perspectives of the Middle Ages are shaped by modern portrayals in film, television, literature and video games. The Bachelor of Arts in Medieval and Medievalism Studies program provides you with an appreciation of history, culture and visual arts that can serve as background for pursuits in many different career fields.

This program must be combined with another Bachelor of Arts program.

  • Interdisciplinary Curriculum
    Pair your Medieval and Medievalism Studies degree with another Bachelor of Arts program. You can easily pair your studies with Communication Studies, English, Film Studies, Global Studies or Women and Gender Studies, among others.
  • Modernized Content
    Gain an understanding of how our perspectives of the Middle Ages are shaped by modern portrayals in film, television, literature, role-playing clubs, and video games.
  • Connections to Community
    Community Service-Learning (CSL) courses at Laurier integrate service in the community with what you are learning in class. Placements are approximately 10 weeks.

  • Apply to Co-op
    Get resume-ready and combine your Medieval and Medievalism Studies program with a program that offers co-op (like Global Studies or Political Science). Apply to co-op at the end of your first year.
  • Study Abroad
    Study outside of Canada for a term to broaden your horizons. Travel overseas for an academic term at the University of Durham in England and Université de Poitiers in France.
  • Student Society
    One of the most active student groups on campus, our Medieval Students' Society organizes social events like archery outings and medieval potluck dinners, and educational outreach programs.
