Becoming a Golden Hawk means more than just cheering on our (really good) varsity teams – it means being a student who cares about your community, who works hard in the classroom, and who takes advantage of all the learning opportunities that can happen outside the classroom, too.

As evidenced at convocation, students' families and other supporters are an important part of their success at university. We recognize that working together with supporters, especially during challenging situations, can often yield positive outcomes for students. Our goal is to provide you with information and resources that can help you through this exciting time.
Many students are excited about the idea of living away from home and living in residence. Living in residence is an opportunity for them to learn and grow, and gain an appreciation for all you do for them on a daily basis. Our New Residence Students webpage will have all the info you need on what to pack and when to move in.
Your student's first year at university will no doubt be a journey of many new experiences, and we know you are eager to continue to support them through each new milestone.
Gain insight into the opportunities and challenges that your student may encounter in their first year and learn ways to support your student and yourself during this transition. Register for "Helping Your Hawk Soar: Supporting Your Student in Their First Year of University" to attend this session.
The Dean of Students office helps family members who have concerns about a student's safety or well-being, or are looking for assistance with connecting the student to resources or supports. Due to privacy regulations, the Dean of Students office may be limited in what we can share; however, we are happy to hear your concerns and will take appropriate steps as needed.
In extreme cases where the university is concerned for the imminent safety of a student, the emergency contact listed on our students' file will be contacted by Special Constable Service.
We protect the personal privacy of our students in compliance with Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and have answers to your questions about student privacy.
If your student is interested in providing you access to their invoicing and account summary information at Laurier, you’ll need their permission to access it. Student can access their LORIS account and grant you proxy access.
Whether your student is entering first year or going into fourth, attending postsecondary education requires some careful financial planning. Visit our Managing Finances webpage for information on how you can support your student in this regard.
At Laurier, we offer an exceptional student-centred experience with resources for every dimension of wellness. We provide students with seamless, coordinated care and collaborative services that support academic achievement, health and well-being and personal growth.
It's important for your student to strengthen their self-advocacy skills during their time in university. Familiarize yourself with the resources available so you can help your student identify the resources they can access to succeed.
